Last year we could celebrate that 25 years had elapsed since the successful 5th Thai-Danish Expedition to the Andaman Sea in 1966. The Expedition demonstrated a very rich marine fauna of Thailand. Mostof the species were identifiedin the years afterthe Expeditionby Daniih andThai scientrsts. However, some groups were too comprehensive to be completed in a few years. This was the case with polychaetes, which became the responsibility of the young biologist Mr Boonlert Phasuk. The situatiornvith respect to time for research did not become any better in the following years, and Mr Boonlert Phasuk has reallzedthat he probably must wait for retirement before the worms can be treated in further detail. I am glad to state that we persuaded Mr Boonlert phasuk to submit his preliminary data for publication in this volume because, euen if the study is not complete, it is still the most comprehensive treatment of the unusually rich polychaete fauna of Thailand.
