This ASEAN Regional Action Plan for Combatting Marine Debris in the ASEAN Member States (ASEAN Regional Action Plan) was developed under the leadership of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment (MONRE), Thailand, in their role as chair of the ASEAN Working Group on Coastal and Marine Environment (AWGCME). The ASEAN Secretariat would like to express its sincere gratitude for the technical inputs provided by ASEAN Member States through the AWGCME, ASEAN Working Group on Chemicals and Waste (AWGCW), and ASEAN Working Group on Environmentally Sustainable Cities (AWGESC), as well as development partners, private sector experts, and leading academics. The development of the ASEAN Regional Action Plan would not be possible without the financial support and technical guidance from the World Bank through PROBLUE. With this support, the ASEAN Secretariat also appreciates the technical consultants (Austrian Environment Agency and Alphabeta) who had prepared the draft of the ASEAN Regional Action Plan and organised the consultation workshops to solicit inputs and feedback from the AMS and other stakeholders. PROBLUE is an umbrella multi-donor trust fund, administered by the World Bank, that supports the sustainable and integrated development of marine and coastal resources in healthy oceans. A team from the World Bank Group (the World Bank and the International Finance Corporation) provided strategic support. The ASEAN Secretariat is grateful for these valuable contributions which have made this work possible.
